Professor Matthew Erie is pleased to announce the launch of the “China, Law and Development” (CLD) website, and the publication of the first seven Research Briefs.
CLD is a European Research Council-funded project that examines China’s impact on international economic law and the legal and regulatory systems of host states receiving Chinese capital. The Research Briefs have been written by invited early-career scholars and practitioners, with the aim of sharing information on specific aspects of their work related to the legal and regulatory challenges to Chinese outbound capital in developing states, including the Belt and Road Initiative. An impressive variety of topics are covered in this first series, with subjects ranging from tax administration to project finance. This initiative will also kick-start the building of a broader network of scholars working and sharing knowledge on the state of the field.
More information will become available as the research progresses, so please check back at the website at regular intervals. The next set of Research Briefs will be published this autumn.
