The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies is delighted to announce that Professor Dominic Parviz Brookshaw has been appointed as the new Soudavar Chair in Persian Studies from Michaelmas Term, succeeding Professor Edmund Herzig.

Dominic Parviz Brookshaw is Professor of Persian Literature and Iranian Culture at the University of Oxford and Senior Research Fellow in Persian at Wadham College. His research spans premodern and modern Persian literary traditions, with particular interests in medieval court poetry, women poets of the Persian-speaking world, authors from marginalised Iranian communities, and the literary culture of Qajar Iran.

The Faculty warmly welcomes Professor Brookshaw to the Chair and expresses its sincere thanks to Professor Edmund Herzig for his many years of distinguished leadership in Persian Studies at Oxford.
