Biography:
Dr. Rekha Pachauri currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Bennett University, bringing a decade of experience in both the media industry and academia. Dr. Pachauri is engaged in a Collaborative research Project on Indian Poet Baajida. at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. She is empanelled as an International Consultant with Centre for Development Research & Communication (CDRAC), United Kingdom. Dr. Pachauri hosts a video series on news platform TheWire titled “Shasan”, which translates to governance focused on governance, policy analysis, and current affairs. She is also a Media Literacy Trainer certified by Factshala and DataLEADS with support from the Google News Initiative. She has received a fellowship from Breakthrough Trust India titled "Do You Have a Gender Lens," a media engagement program.
Her research expertise is reflected in her doctoral research from the University of Lucknow which focused on the impact of political advertising on first-time female voters in Lucknow. Her diverse research endeavours also include field projects with the Centre for New Economics Studies, where she examined the economic impact of COVID-19 on domestic workers and street vendors. She has also explored the papier-mâché art tradition in Kashmir, India, and recently engaged in a field project related to the women of the Pashtun community in Kashmir. Dr. Pachauri has actively participated in significant field projects, including a collaboration with UNICEF India to address measles and rubella diseases. Her commitment to social causes is further highlighted by her contribution of audio stories for WaterAid India, which focused on menstrual hygiene for visually impaired adolescent girls. Moreover, she has been involved in a project aimed at encouraging school students to use podcasts for citizen journalism. She has been a part of Radio industry as a Radio Jockey and copywriter.
In addition to her academic and research achievements, manages her own YouTube channel, "Wo Kehti Kahani," where she provides insightful commentary on various socio-political issues. Dr. Rekha Pachauri's multifaceted contributions underscore her dedication to academia and her commitment to driving positive societal change.
