Biography
I studied Egyptology and history at the universities of Pisa, Prague and Vienna and have MA and doctorates in both subjects. I am currently a Supernumerary Fellow of Harris Manchester College, Oxford, and a member of the Ancient World Research Cluster at Wolfson College. I work on the project Who was Who in Egyptology for the Egypt Exploration Society since 2022 and am a member of the Egyptian Expedition of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. I have been involved in the study of Egyptian secondary epigraphy (graffiti) since 2003, and in fieldwork epigraphy in Egypt since 2010, supported by grants and awards from the Czech Science Foundation, Anglo-Czech Educational Fund, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, IFAO, and the American Research Center in Egypt. I currently teach Egyptian history and archaeology, as well as reception studies and history of Egyptology. I have taught and examined undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in the UK and internationally. I am a series editor of Liverpool Monographs in Egyptology (LUP - https://liverpooluniversitypress.blog/tag/liverpool-monographs-in-egyptology/ ), and History of Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Egyptology (Brill/de Gruyter – https://brill.com/hanese ).
