Dr Prasanna C Gautam Award in Sanskrit and Vedic Studies

Sanskrit and Vedic Studies

In honour of Sanskrit scholar Dr Prasanna C Gautam, a new fund has been established to support the study of Sanskrit and the Vedas within the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.

Annual awards will be available for the following activities:

  • Up to £1,000 for travel as part of academic field work and/or to attend international conferences or academic meetings
  • Up to £500 for studies in Sanskrit
  • Up to £500 for studies of the Vedas
  • Up to £500 to purchase resources to benefit students of Sanskrit or the Vedas, or to support visiting academics to give lectures, teach or contribute to relevant activities within the Faculty

The total awards dispersed in one year should not exceed £1,500, subject to review over time to account for rises in inflation. The awards will be made at the discretion of the Faculty, who will manage the fund until the total amount has been dispersed.
