Darig Thokmay was born in Tibet and received his early education in Tibetan monasteries and Chinese schools. He then pursued higher education in several countries, including India and Poland. Currently, he is a DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford, where he is conducting research on Tibet's social, cultural and political relations with the Qing and the Mongols during the 18th century.
